Privacy Policy

Last Updated: April 29, 2026

Welcome to Lab Rex! Your lab reports contain very private health details, and we take that responsibility seriously. These privacy practices exist to protect you, to protect other users, and to keep the service trustworthy and secure for everyone. We take privacy very seriously, so we request that you read this privacy policy thoroughly and as it contains important information on who we are, how and why we collect, store, use, and share your personal information.

This policy applies to all users of the Lab Rex mobile application, regardless of whether they have created an account or are using the app in a limited capacity. After downloading, installing, or using Lab Rex in any way, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the practices described herein. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, we request that you immediately stop using the application.

Disclaimer

This disclaimer is for users to understand before they begin using the app or request AI analysis. It applies to all analysis-based content generated within this app.

Lab Rex does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment recommendations, prescriptions, emergency advice, or substitute for professional medical care. The app is not intended to be used for clinical decision-making and should not be relied upon for medical decisions. Users should always consult a qualified licensed healthcare professional before making any medical decisions based on their lab results or any information provided by the app. All explanations and insights generated by the app are for educational and informational purposes only.

While we strive to provide helpful and accurate explanations, we cannot guarantee that all information will be complete or accurate. These AI-generated explanations might come as incomplete, inaccurate, or not applicable to your specific condition. The outputs produced by Open AI model are trained on vast amounts of general medical literature. They do not possess genuine medical expertise, clinical judgment, or the ability to evaluate your individual health history, symptoms, test results, or personal circumstances. What might appear as a clear explanation could still miss critical nuances, overlook rare conditions, or fail to account for the latest medical research and guidelines relevant to your case.

1. Introduction

Lab Rex is a health education app focused on making lab reports more understandable for everyday people who want to take a more informed interest in their health numbers. The app replaces uncertainty with clarity by explaining what your report says and how your numbers compare to past ones. It adds personal context to your results, so you see the real meaning beyond general ranges. Many individuals receive lab reports filled with unfamiliar terms, numbers, and abbreviations. Lab Rex is made to bridge that gap by offering clear explanation of what those numbers generally represent, how they compare to standard reference ranges, and how they may have changed over time if multiple reports are available.

We fully acknowledge that health data is among the most sensitive categories of personal information. A single lab report can reveal details about metabolic function, organ health, nutritional status, hormone levels, and much more. Because of this sensitivity, Lab Rex has been built from the ground up with a strong privacy-first philosophy. We prioritize data minimization, user consent, transparency, and security at every stage of development and operation.

2. What Information We Collect

All data is collected directly through your interaction with the app. This occurs when you create an account, upload a lab report, or use features that require processing your data. The app does not collect hidden or unrelated information, and nothing is gathered without user awareness.

The details and purposes of this collection are described below:

We genuinely want users to feel safe, respected, and in full control when using Lab Rex. That is why we have implemented multiple layers of consent, easy data deletion options, and clear explanations throughout the user journey. We do not engage in any practices that could undermine user trust, such as selling data or using it for unrelated advertising purposes.

3. How We Use Your Information

Lab Rex analyzes the uploaded lab reports to read the numbers, generate simple explanations, create summaries, compare results over time, highlight trends, and possible concerns. Some processing occurs on your device, and some processing occurs through our secure middleware and third-party AI provider when you request analysis.

Your account details help us keep your data separate from other users and let you log in safely. This data is sent to our third-party AI service provider, OpenAI, solely for processing and generating explanations. OpenAI processes the data only to generate a response. Data sent to OpenAI is not retained, stored, or used for any purpose beyond generating the requested output. We do not opt in to any use of your data for training or improving AI models. Yet your data may be temporarily retained for security and abuse monitoring in accordance with OpenAI’s API policies.

The third party cannot independently retrieve or access information. Before any data is sent to OpenAI, Lab Rex clearly informs you about what data will be shared, who it will be shared with, and why. Your explicit permission is required before proceeding. If you do not consent, the data will not be sent.

4. How We Share Your Information

Lab Rex is designed with a strict privacy-first architecture where all personal and health-related data are protected. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your data with advertisers, marketing companies, data brokers, or any unrelated third parties under any circumstances. Your information is only shared in the following clearly defined and limited situations:

(a) Third-Party (Open AI)

(b) Legal Obligations

(c) Business Transfers

(d) With Explicit Direction

(e) What We Will Never Do

5. How We Protect Your Information

Data security is one of our top priorities because we understand how sensitive health information can be. Lab Rex is designed with a privacy-first architecture where your data is primarily stored on your device and, where applicable, securely on our servers for account-based features such as syncing and history access. However, when you request analysis, selected portions of your lab report, such as test names, numerical values, and reference ranges, are securely transmitted to our third-party service provider, OpenAI, solely to process your request and generate a response. Your data may be stored locally on your device, and, if you use an account, securely on our servers to enable features such as syncing and history access.

Lab Rex makes sure that any third-party service provider it engages, including OpenAI, maintains data protection standards that are equal to or greater than those described in this Privacy Policy and processes data strictly in accordance with our instructions. We implement strong industry-standard security measures, including access controls, system monitoring, and security safeguards designed to prevent unauthorized access and protect your information.

Your lab reports and generated results are stored within your app environment (either on your device or securely associated with your account) and are not retained or stored by OpenAI after processing is complete. OpenAI acts solely as a data processor and does not use your data for any independent purpose. It maintains its own privacy and security practices to safeguard information.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information only for as long as necessary to provide the services described in this Privacy Policy. Uploaded lab reports and account-related data are stored while your account remains active so that you can access your history and comparisons. If you delete a specific lab report within the app, it is permanently removed from our systems and cannot be recovered.

Users may delete their account at any time without needing to contact us. Users may also withdraw consent for data processing at any time. When consent is withdrawn, everything is permanently deleted from the device and cannot be recovered. In addition, all future processing of lab reports is immediately stopped, and no further data is transmitted to any third-party service, including OpenAI.

When a user requests full account deletion, all personal data and stored lab reports associated with the account are permanently and irreversibly deleted from our servers within 30 days of the request.

To delete your account, go to:
Settings → Account → Delete Account

A confirmation prompt will appear asking you to confirm this action. After confirmation, all account data stored within the Lab Rex system will be permanently deleted.

If an account remains inactive for a continuous period of two years, we may permanently delete the account and associated data to maintain system security. We do not retain personal data beyond what is necessary to provide the service described in this policy.

7. Your Rights Over Your Data

Lab Rex requires your explicit permission before any personal or health data is transmitted or processed. You must actively agree to this disclosure before any data is sent. We take user privacy seriously and without their consent, no data transmission or processing will occur.

Lab Rex honors the following rights with respect to your data:

8. Children’s Privacy

Lab Rex is not meant for children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 without parental consent. If you are a parent and believe your child under 18 as provided information, contact us immediately, and we will delete it quickly.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy to reflect new features, legal changes, or better practices. When we make important changes, we will notify you in the app, by email, or with a notice when you open the app. Minor or non-material changes may be made without advance notice, though the updated policy will always be available within the app. The date at the bottom of this document indicates the most recent update. We encourage users to review the policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.

10. Contact Us

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the app after a material change takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

If you have any questions, concerns, or requests about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your information, please reach out to us through the support section in the app or email us at suppot@labrex.app. We will respond as soon as we can and work to address your concerns.

Thank you for trusting Lab Rex with your health information.
